Lynne Agee

UNC GREENSBORO - Lynne Agee has become the 23rd coach in women's basketball history to earn 500 career victories. Agee was initially brought to UNCG to coach men’s tennis and women’s basketball. "I was a part-time coach at Rowan College. I was looking for a full-time position, UNC Greensboro came open and the position was head men’s tennis coach and head’s women’s basketball coach," Agee said. When Agee arrived in Greensboro in 1981 UNCG was competing in the lower echelon of collegiate sports in Division III. After a brief stint in Division II UNCG made the jump to compete in the Division I Big South in 1991. The allure of getting the opportunity to build a Division I program from the ground floor in her image was enough to keep Agee from pursuing more lucrative avenues in her coaching career. "Time flies. When you’re talking about 500 wins, you definitely know you’ve had a long career,” said Agee. “It’s like it never really happened, it’s almost surreal, I look back and think ‘Have I really been sitting on the bench for 33 years now?’ "It’s exciting and it’s obviously a milestone.”

Kevin Cassese

DUKE UNIVERSITY - Duke's Kevin Cassese earned first team All-America honors for the second straight season. Cassese, a second team All-America choice in 2001 and a first team selection a year ago, becomes just the third Duke player ever to receive first team All-America honors. Cassese was also a finalist for the Tewaaraton Trophy candidate for national player of the year honors.
